I’ve just been nominated by my daughter on video posted on facebook to a Ice Bucket Challenge.  What is it?  It’s currently a trending social media craze where if you are nominated, you have a choice to either donate $100 to the ALS organization for research or spread the awareness by nominating 3 more people and dumping a bucket of ice water over your head.  And yes, Kara is now grounded.

But, before we mindlessly start dumping ice water on ourselves, let’s take a moment to learn little bit about ALS – commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Did you know there are 450,000 people diagnosed and living with this disease right now waiting for an effective treatment?

There are more than 150 potential treatments that’s been looked at but still no real cure yet.
